Larry the Line visited the younger grades at Amelia Elementary to demonstrate many different types of lines as well as the 3 different directions a line can move. As a reward to classes working hard and quietly, Larry reappears at the end of class to check out student work and shake his rattle. Amelia students love Larry and I'm pretty sure he has his own fan club!

This week at Amelia Elementary, we read Lines that Wiggle by Candace Whitman as an introduction to line. First graders enjoyed creating different kinds of lines on their paper with black crayon. However, the best part of class, was getting to paint with watercolor paints to make our work very colorful!
The Cultural Arts Program started today at Amelia Elementary. Students get to learn from two art teachers! I love working with Miss Green, my co-art teacher. She loves to draw and tries to sneak paint into every lesson! I have learned so much from working with her last year. I'm looking forward to another great year at Amelia.
It was nice to see familiar faces as we taught 5th grade today. Students learned how to draw animals by breaking them down into simple shapes and the importance of proportion when drawing. Next class, they will fill in their animals with intricate line designs known as zentangles. Once projects are completed, I'll post some pictures! |
